Hanna thinks the night can't get any worse than being stood up by Drake, her fake date for her cousin's wedding. At least he texts at the final hour with a good enough excuse. Medical emergencies are her thing-until she gets to his place to find him delivering another woman's baby in his bed. Her first reaction is to call 9-1-1 and to tell him to never contact her again. Her second reaction comes naturally when bullets start flying, and they need to set their differences aside to survive the night.

Drake isn't good fake-date material because he's into Hanna. The timing can't be worse when his estranged sister goes into labor. His attempt to text his way out of standing Hanna up results in getting her involved. He's an operative for the network her family has run for generations, but he's not sure his sister has been completely honest. He regrets putting Hanna at risk, but that isn't why she won't forgive him. She's benched for breaking protocol, but he's back in the field. Since he got her into this mess, the least he can do is help her navigate it, except she's as stubborn as she is sexy. When the enemy yanks her back into the field, her father is willing to break protocol, which might put her in greater danger. Drake needs to convince him of what he's always known: she can rescue herself. Letting her prove it might be the way to heart, but it's easier said than done as the wait grows longer.
