An action thriller in which a retired policeman (read: Eddy) emigrates to Alderney, a small island that is part of the Channel Islands and where this policeman is confronted with cases from the past and the present day.

Retired police officer Eddy van Driel was born in 1953 in Rotterdam-Charlois. Around 1996 he started writing fictional adventures that always concern the First and/or the Second World War. Why about those wars? Since 1980, he has been developing himself as an independent Second World War researcher. Thanks in particular to conversations with people who actually experienced this war, he can now pass on this knowledge to the next generation. His previous book, A Heavy Burden On Young Shoulders, was published in 2012 by publishing house U2pi. This book records the war experiences of thirty children from the Rijnmond area. He has also provided interviews for books by fellow writers such as Heijplaat In Verzet and Surviving Under A Different Order for the Police Academy.
During the very stressful corona pandemic, it was not possible to visit archives and do research. Going on holiday was also not convenient at that time. In order to be able to go on holiday as a pensioner, there was only one option left: going on holiday in a book!

'I visited Alderney Island in 1996 and 2004. Alderney is part of the British Channel Islands which were occupied by the Germans in 1940 and turned into impregnable fortresses. The occupation lasted until the German capitulation in 1945 and the many bunkers were left behind. My previous visits to this island and my knowledge about the Second World War formed the basis for a fictional action thriller in which I emigrate to this island as a retired police officer and soon find out that not everything is all right. Once again I find myself in a situation where I have to resolve issues from the past and the present.
