Voyage to the Edge of Eternity: Hard Science Fiction
Before he realizes what is happening, he and Elias are on their way into space in a spaceship with futuristic propulsion. On the Moon, he discovers secrets that were previously well hidden from the eyes of mankind. On Mars, important insights into the origin of life are revealed to him. And far out in the Oort cloud, about three light days from Earth, he finds Elysium, a celestial body half the diameter of Earth's moon. It is an ice world, but it hides a paradise within.
A technology from the future makes Elysium a world of immortality. They are nanites - nano-robots that can disguise themselves as normal body cells. Having passed through the wormhole into the past, they have existed on Earth since primeval times. Today, they can be found in the bodies of many animals and virtually all humans - or would be found if their camouflage were not perfect.
Once used to collect information, but also to study brain function and development, they are now used to make an indestructible record of the human mind, which can persist even after the death of the biological body and find a new home in places like Elysium - in a perfectly designed virtual reality generated by gigantic computer systems. And these are mainly located inside icy asteroids, with Elysium playing a special role. And so Adam meets a miraculous surprise on Elysium.
After his stay on Elysium, Adam's voyage continues to the dark edge of time, where he witnesses the creation of the wormhole from which our universe emerged. Through the wormhole he gets back to the beginning, experiences the birth of the Milky Way and the solar system in fast forward and finally ends up at a point in our past where history could have taken two completely different courses. And this is the moment when Adam's true destiny is revealed.
His first mission is also a test for his acceptance into the ranks of the Preservers of Time. He must prevent a dystopian horror vision from becoming a reality on Earth. And he has to solve the problem alone.
Back in his time and his biological body again, he is he is entrusted with his first independent mission. It was intended to be a harmless-looking reconnaissance mission at a time when humans are already living in colonies on terraformed exoplanets.
Soon, however, he finds himself faced with the task of stopping a horrific menace on the planet Verian before it can become a serious danger to the integrity of eternity itself. But now he is no longer alone. He receives help he would not have dared to hope for.
