Claudia Todd had an addiction...more than one, actually. Food, sex, attention, and Jon. It was her addiction to Jon that landed her in a mental institution after a bottle of pills failed to end her life.

A history of depression and feeling abandoned by many whom she loved, including her ex-husband, helped foster her spiral into suicidal tendencies when her married lover chose to remain with his wife. The other man in her life at the time, Patrick, just didn't quite understand or excite her the way Jon did and he was truthfully quite oblivious to Claudia's needs and wants.
