It is both alarming and shocking that in this modern society, many Christians do not understand or have conviction of the meaning of covenant. The word 'covenant' is used lightly and often even treated with contempt within the context of marriage, friendship and church and is more than often ridiculed by the world philosophies. Covenant has fallen victim to modernisation and the decline of social values and is no longer the foundation of our relationship with each other or with Christ. It has become so easy to make 'covenants' and even easier to break those already made.
