A sequel to Stolen Dream, Walking in the Dark presents a people plundered and torn. They live in the illusion of freedom that never was. Through their leaders, from whom they have high expectations that their lives will improve, they continue to suffer even more and lose what they have. It is a sad state as the masters from countries who oppressed them continue to loot their resources in subtle ways they never realize.
Disillusionment cuts across the land as tribulations continue to mercilessly hit them. They still sing the song of independence and praises to their rulers who through crafty lies continue to deceive them that better days are yet to come. They divide them into tribal bands so they can continue using them to gain more power and wealth. The people continue to suffer and lose hope in a land they once had very high sanguinity.
In what can be called mind capture, the systems are designed to make them slaves. Legalized corruption and larceny become the order of the day. The enlightened ones among them have no voice or power to do a thing. Those who get the chance to defend the rights of the people do not live to speak another day. Weakened by the systems, they hope for a deliverer who will rise, enlighten the people and liberate them from the gross darkness they walk in.
