Leaving Kerala is seen as finding a haven amongst traditional difficulties. It's true that life abroad has many more comforts than a life in Kerala, but often, the realization that living in a foreign country is different than hoped comes far too late.

From lost hopes to a past never-known, this anthology explores that realization through the perspective of a second-generation Malayalee immigrant.

അമേരിക്കൻ സ്വപ്നം ഉയർന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷകളും വലിയ സ്വപ്നങ്ങളും ഭാവിയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രതീക്ഷകളും നിറഞ്ഞതാണ്.

കേരളം വിടുന്നത് നാടിന്റെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകൾക്കിടയിൽ ഒരു അഭയസ്ഥാനം കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതായിട്ടാണ് കാണുന്നത്. വിദേശ ജീവിതത്തിന് കേരളത്തിലെ ജീവിതത്തേക്കാൾ കൂടുതൽ സുഖസൗകര്യങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടെന്നത് ശരിയാണ്, പക്ഷേ പലപ്പോഴും, വിദേശത്ത് താമസിക്കുന്നത് പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചതിലും വ്യത്യസ്തമാണെന്ന തിരിച്ചറിവ് വളരെ വൈകിയാണ് വരുന്നത്.

നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട പ്രതീക്ഷകളിൽ നിന്ന് ഒരിക്കലും അറിയപ്പെടാത്ത ഭൂതകാലത്തിലേക്ക്, രണ്ടാം തലമുറയിലെ ഒരു മലയാളി കുടിയേറ്റക്കാരന്റെ വീക്ഷണത്തിലൂടെ ആ സാക്ഷാത്കാരത്തെ ഈ ആന്തോളജി അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.
