Mystery's Island

Perhaps strength is not
the absence of fear but
the ability to carry on.

"Hello?" I yelled throughout the house but found no response.
I went outside and stood there in the middle of the small two-way concrete road, feeling completely lost and confused.
I had woken up that morning without a trace of knowledge of who I was or where I was. The small island went from a population of who knows how many, to a population of, I assumed, only one-me.
Standing there in the middle of the road, I found myself yelling, "hello? Is anyone there?" No, no one was there. It was just me, all alone in the middle of the empty street, without a single soul around to comfort me.
What had happened to everyone and why couldn't I remember anything?
