I have walked by moonlight, peering out alone in the primordial swamps south of New Orleans. Mesmerized, I spied between the palmetto, roaring bonfires and heard the distant drums of the Voodoo practitioners igniting the darkness with their songs and screams. All the while mesmerized and compelled to conjure the lurid tale of an ancient Voodoo queen. I have scrambled and stumbled across the most remote locations of the Appalachian Mountains. While running in haste from a Bigfoot, I searched for the most ghastly and horrific ghost story ever to possess my imagination. Writing quickly before the phantom or demon left, I tried to capture their spirit accurately in mere words. And, writing with the ghost of William Faulkner down on Pirate's Alley by The Olde Absinthe House, I've heard the blood curdling screams of a woman somewhere in a fog filled French Quarter pleading for their life on more than one occasion. All the while I kept wondering or shuddering if Jack the Ripper or .... a werewolf was on the prowl. Then, naturally I shrugged and took another sip of my fine green liquor.
This is a horrific collection of werewolves, witches, demons, and a few other monsters to chill your red blood, ice cold. We truly hope these gathered tales will unnerve, haunt, and horrify you dear reader. Or at least make you look twice over your shoulder in a lone forest, or a dark street in the French Quarter. Pleasant nightmares.--JL
