Just as the title spoils it, Pipa does get a cell phone and she immediately loses it. The book aims to teach children responsibility. It also teaches them not to panic when they have a problem. Even if they are afraid of getting in trouble, children need to ask their parents for help.
It also teaches parents the importance of patience. They can't lose their cool over every little thing. Nobody is perfect, and that is alright.
