IS THAT YOUR MOTHER CALLING is a collection of poignant, humorous, well-intended, and even strange advice shared by several hundred people associated with Iowa State University in the mid 1980s--faculty, students, and staff born between 1926 and 1984. Their information includes the relationships of the advice givers, what the occasions were that triggered the advice, what they thought of it at first as well as years later on reflection, and what, if any, lasting effects the advice has had on their lives. The topics selected for this collection include advice on dating and marriage, specific advice to young men, specific advice to young women, and advice so unique and/or strange it defies categorizing.
