As a poor Missouri girl, I had the opportunity to grow up living among healers. Later in my life I traveled to Central and South America into the Country of Belize and the Caribbean Islands of St. Vincent in the West Indies. There I lived and studied with Black Carib and Garifuna healers. Many of the remedies that I learned, comes from the teachings of farmers, producers, collectors, herbalists, healers and village women.

These very wise teachers understood that plants and foods can be used as medicine.
