The inspiration for this book, initially written in 2010 as a master's thesis to meet the requirements for my Master of Arts in Jewish Studies at Gratz College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was based on our experience of living in northern Israel during the Second War with Lebanon which took place during the summer of 2006. I did not anticipate that what I wrote would enable people to grasp the Biblical roots of the continuous conflict between the sovereign State of Israel and the actions of Hamas and Hezbollah which began on October 7, 2023. The content of this book includes biographical material as well as scholarly research. In some chapters, Hebrew and Aramaic citations have been added alongside their English translations for the purpose of clarifying the text.
