Haggadah for Christians: Celebrating a Christ-Centered Passover Seder

JUST RELEASED: A Brand New 2024 Release! This Haggadah is distinctive for two key reasons. Firstly, it intertwines the ancient narrative of liberation from Egyptian slavery with the celebration of our spiritual redemption through Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ). Secondly, it diverges from the classical Jewish Haggadah by omitting the sections that traditionally express disdain towards Jesus and his followers. For example, one such passage is the "Shefokh chamatkha" ("Pour out Your wrath") prayer, which is recited towards the end of the Seder. This prayer asks God to pour out wrath upon the nations. Another example is the section on the Four Sons, which includes the story of The Wicked Son. This son is portrayed as being rebellious and rejecting the teachings and traditions of the rabbis of Orthodox Judaism. Jewish scholars interpret this passage as a criticism of followers of Jesus, especially Jewish, who did not adhere to rabbinic Jewish practices but rejected and challenged them. In keeping with Jewish tradition, each generation is encouraged to envision themselves as personally liberated from Egyptian servitude. Yet, as followers of Jesus, our journey extends beyond the sands of ancient Egypt to a spacious upper room in Jerusalem. There, during the time of Jesus, we will symbolically partake in the inauguration of the New Covenant, uniting past and present in a profound act of faith and remembrance. Accordingly, this alternative Haggadah put Yeshua (Jesus) back in the center of the Passover table, making it perfect for Christians who want to celebrate the Passover Seder. These adaptations, often referred to as "Messianic" or "Christ in the Passover" Haggadahs, incorporate Christian beliefs into the traditional Passover Seder. This allows Christians to connect with the story of Passover while honoring their faith in Jesus as the Messiah and the ultimate Passover Lamb.
