Doing the Mamba

Stephanie's nickname is Mother, not only because she's the leader of a clandestine refugee settlement, but because she's literally the mother of the alien hybrids who rescued her and started the secret station on Kepler for people just like them.

Her hands are more than full when Mamba, an Anguis general, and his crew unexpectedly arrive at her secret station, fleeing the same aliens who'd abducted her. There's something about his raw, exotic masculinity that calls to her. He's built like a god of war with camouflaging skin, spikes embedded in his forearms, and venomous fangs. Despite her better judgment, Stephanie baits the overbearing general. Much to her surprise Mamba returns the volley and things escalate from there. With each taunt it becomes harder to tell if they are enemies or something more.
