Animals have always something to tell us. In the first part of this story the Character undergoes a formidable test in exchange for a fat payment at a Swiss science Institute. So attached to the groundbreaking machinery, he acquires an immense knowledge on a wide range of topics, dreaming animals telling him what they think and know, he discovers they know much more than he expected, especially about how men interact with them under a supposed animals' point of view. In the second part, he meets disquieting figures looking like ghosts who talk to him about their past lives as men and sinners. In this place, he learns much more than he knew in his self-conscience. In the third part, he finally meets the Men in Flash and Bones. Here's where he faces the literary foil he'd long heard about singularly. The tale goes throrugh and involves some crucial issues in a witty manner in places, which permeate the whole novel like environment, vanity, corruption, ambition and the sense of life itself. The final message states the eternal contradiction in which Man finds himself out between trying to get more and more knowledge about life or live to eat in the darkness or wishful thinking.
