Ezekiel "Zeke" Powers, a USAF security police non-commissioned officer, is badly wounded in Afghanistan. He receives word that he is being involuntarily retired and is sent to a VA hospital near his hometown in North Carolina.
After months of rehabilitation, he sets out to rebuild his life as a civilian. He is surprised at how unwelcome he seems to be. As an Air Force cop, he had thoughts of becoming part of his hometown police force. But it seems they are not very happy about his arrival.
