My main thesis is that metaphysics, like poetry and the novel, is not an exact science, but the philosophical specialization that merges imagination, intuition, and hunch in the formulation of hypotheses, that is, abductive judgments. Renouncing the claims of universality and uniqueness typical of exact sciences, Metaphysics is established as the most plausible conjecture about the soul, God, and the universe. But far from reformulating metaphysics, what I demonstrate is that it has always been there, before our eyes, segregated by an academy that insists on applying the established criterion of mathematics to social sciences that tremble due to changing ideologies or discourses for new generations; neither history, nor economics, nor sociology, nor politics manage to establish axioms, but neither do psychology, nor even medicine and physics. And although Karl Popper's concept of falsifiability has been accepted to solve this impasse, both theology and poetry and theatre are still viewed with suspicion by the 21st-century university academia, not to mention metaphysics, which has been banished along with religion not only from knowledge but from Western civilization with the postulates of the UN 2030 agenda.
I also analyse politics not from history, as is customary today, but from theology, just as Francisco Suarez did in the 16th century; the absence of God has created a void in the secular world that has been quickly seized upon by new religions or 'isms, ' be it communism, National Socialism, Islamism, or socialism. Adapting Asimov's three laws of robotics to all creeds, politic as well as religious, I have set up a frame for the peaceful coexistence of all believes, including atheism and the radical family of "isms".
Many of the intuitions obtained at that moment have been translated into this book, accompanied by writings I have been publishing since 2001 in specialized journals in Europe and America. "The Definition of God," which was already a central theme in my novel "New Manhattan Soir?es," was written at the request of the philosopher Martin Cohen for the "Foundations of Ethics and Philosophy" encyclopaedia, published by Hodder Education in 2005.
The writings contained in this book, far from being exceptional revelations, are part of the philosophical tradition of both the East and the West. Readers will find references to great philosophers as well as religious writings from Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and other traditions. The validity of these writings is supported by wisdom tested by hundreds of generations no less sceptical than our own, and, like all certainty, ultimately depends on our personal convictions.
