She had no name. Not when her "Take me home" stare first stopped us dead in our tracks. Nobody knew it, could even guess what it was, the label on her crate just "Bitch" with a one-digit number 3 indicating "Age Three." But Kandi (with a capital K and a lower i ) was what we subsequently named the tawny colored, soft pawed, soulful-eyed, 50-pound, smooth haired dog, part Ridgeback, part something else - a veritable smorgasbord of canine genes. Its those genes, that DNA that made her what she was, so special, a combination of all the good, with so very little of the bad. And so we had a dog. She was a rescued dog and as such she grasped at her second chance at life with all four paws, this coloring her loving nature, her quirks, her faults and even her death. No matter, Kandi lived life to the fullest and her multitude of adventures, her cornucopia of trials and tribulations, and even her hangups colored our lives and taught us a life's lesson - be humble, be joyous, be kind and be forever empathetic. She also taught us to never, ever, take a dog through an oil lube facility's mechanized car wash.
