Sheriff Bergman have settled into a comfortable relationship both on and off the field. When Pam returns, an already troubled Spencer is faced with his worst fears. Bergman and Sophie make choices that are best for the children but separates them. Amidst all the turmoil, Sophie is called in to consult on a missing child case with the FBI. Bergman suspects that there's more to the story. Sophie does not want to go but with little choice, finds herself on the plane to FBI headquarters.

Sophie had just begun to feel familiar with the law enforcement back home. She found the FBI and their formal ways baffling. She had to keep her anxiety at bay if she was going to be helpful.
