Synthetic Soul

Living in the world after it fell into a post-apocalyptic state, Matthew roams the wasteland aimlessly, just surviving day after day, when he falls down an elevator shaft, leading him to a locked door from before the fall of civilization. What he finds there, changes everything, as he powers up old generators, suddenly hearing a voice over an intercom. Trying to rescue the trapped person in this laboratory, he finds only the partially finished body of an AI, as it turns to look at him.
Thinking her to merely be a machine, he intends to leave, finding out that she has been trapped in her mainframe for over half a century, scared, unable to see, unable to hear, as she begs him to not leave her. Matthew hears her out, now understanding that she is indeed sentient, and if he doesn't help her, she can never live.
Deciding to help her, he has to find a way to finish her body, taking her into a violent world that she knows nothing about, when a spark ignites between a human and an AI. Together they face and overcome situation after situation, until after having saved her several times over, he ends up needing help, but the cost is high.
