Ziaun Fakhruddin grows up in what would eventually become Dhaka, Bangladesh, before she leaves her native country for the United States.
In 1963, Fakhruddin immigrates to Massachusetts after marrying her husband. Together, the couple sees him through a psychiatric residency in Worcester, Massachusetts before moving back to Bangladesh. But after discovering his board certifications would not be recognized there, both start the journey to find a new place to call home. Moving their family with them to Canada, they eventually settle in Nashville, Tennessee in 1970.
Fakhruddin's life was marked by achievements and setbacks, joy and grief, as she and her husband nurture their family and help build the growing Muslim community in Nashville through dedication and relentless effort. Together, they take the time to find joy in life through their travels around the world. After her husband's death, she found solace in writing about their life together.
