A mysterious man clutching a trunk boards a bus in Jabalpur one rainy night in August 1990. Around the same time, four security guards are found dead with an emptied-out safe in a bungalow nearby. But, the stolen goods are never recovered and are presumed lost forever.

Decades later, in February 2022, nine high-profile murders over nine consecutive days across the country leave the police force baffled and breathless. That most of the victims are or were members of a leading political party doesn't make it any easier for them.
