Dax McKatrin weathered the bitter Irish influenza of 1919 only to watch his mother and sisters die while his alcoholic father beat him during fits of rage. Dax thought there was no way out until he saw a poster from The Great Northern Railroad promoting the opportunity to homestead land in Montana. Dax jumped aboard a rat-infested ship bound for Ellis Island to seek out a pioneer dream in the American West. Little did he know how much his luck would turn. On his way Westward, Dax witnesses a brutal shootout between Chicago cops and the notorious Giovanni mob gang over a bumbled bank heist. Money is missing...a lot of money. Dax must run for his life as a suspect who might have the loot. An Irish immigrant in a new land, Dax can trust no one.
