"Younas's simplicity in versification is delightfully deceptive. Underlying the placid and transparent text is a hidden core of meaning that the French film critic Jean Mitry, on reading into it, would have presumably characterised as the type and symbol of higher language."

- Dr Jaysankar Basu. Associate Professor and Globally Published Author, attached with Centre for Language, Translation & Cultural Studies, SOH, NSOU: SOH & CLTCS, NSOU.

Younas Rehman was born on November 12th, 1957, in North Waziristan, Pakistan, to a father who was a physician with a Sufi (mystic) temperament. He completed his matriculation from Higher Secondary School Hurmaz and FSC from Degree College Miran Shah, North Waziristan. He graduated in political science from Gomal University DI Khan. He then worked as a science teacher for about three years. In 1986, he appeared in the CSS competitive exam and got selected for civil services in thePakistan Railways group and retired as Chief Commercial Officer in November 2017. His two sons and one daughter are all doctors. His personal interests are music, listening to songs, studying physics relating to time, space, forces, and interstellar dynamics. Mathematics relating to differentiation and integration also interest him. He liked local poetry (Pashto language) from his high school days. He has composed Pashto ghazals (odes) since 1974. At the end of 2016, he started writing English poems very casually. After retiring from government service in 2017, he resumed writing poems with more interest. He believes in poetry as a vehicle for expressing feelings, passions, pains, and pleasures. He does not think of himself as a poet, but he has entered the hearts of many all over the world.
