This text is a canvas of topics related to the use of analytics in fire administration. Study areas include the collection of data through research, basics in statistical analysis and the application of information in fire department decision making. It is intended for two audiences, both as a textbook for students studying fire administration at a baccalaureate and graduate level and as a guide for fire chiefs in managing their local departments.
The text is divided into four general areas of study. These include; research methods, statistical analysis, logic and decision-making, and finally resource deployment.
Fire service professors and instructors should note that the text covers the learning objectives comprising two FESHE courses: Applications in Fire Research and Analytic Approaches to Fire Protection.
