"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." This remarkable scripture emphasizes the importance of our actions. In today's time, many children may endure difficult situations that can affect their overall outlook on life. Problems such as diversity, peer pressure, bullying, neglect, and anxiety are some of the issues that they may face. Studies show that the most common triggers stem from situations that may have taken place during childhood. Precious Prayers tells a story of how children can use prayer to cope with unforeseen problems. Eli, a five-year-old Kindergarten student, is met with uncertainty when he prepares for his first day of school. Eli's mother and older sister help him when he faces a problem at school. Mom's concern for Eli grows stronger as she relies on her faith to comfort him. Eli learns a lesson on prayer. This story teaches children accountability, how to communicate effectively, and how having a positive attitude can predict positive outcomes. In doing so, it brings families together in solidarity. Can you recall a time in your life when you were met with a problem and didn't know what to do? Using prayer as an outlet is an effective way to manage those issues. This has worked for me through my personal experiences growing up as well as from a parenting standpoint. As a mother of two and an Early Childcare Development major, I am qualified to discuss the importance of educating children and why introducing prayer at a young age with the intent that they will have prosperous futures is an effective method. As a former childcare instructor, I have learned that children grow accustomed to behaviors that they are taught and consistently practice daily. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
