Centuries ago mankind was hunted down all across Tavora, reduced to a useful source of labor for the mighty piraph and tiquo. And yet just one of their own would be a catalyst to shape the land. Alyra, separated from her lover, would steal the arcane techniques of her captors and use her newfound magic to escape. Thus the humans would rebel, with their new leaders taking them East. There they would find allies among the yrabor and ostorans, and yet they were not quite enough to resist. If they could bring the tiquo in the South in, however, the piraph knew they would fall.

So they searched for power, power that they found in the dark magics of their remaining slaves. A means to contact and summon the demonic. Their hubris made them think they could tame this new type of creature, but instead they would unleash dread and terror upon the land. For forty-eight years humans, tiquo, and ostorans would fight against the inhuman blight that threatened to consume all. In the end they would succeed, yet two races would be consigned to oblivion, and the land remained blighted.
