Antisocial Lawnmower: A Tales From the Dougside Compendium: Comics from 1988-2013

392 BIG pages of comics and illustrations personally handpicked by creator Douglas Arthur from the archives of his acclaimed comic strip Tales From The Dougside. This compendium is being published in conjunction with a smaller sampler book entitled, Tales From the Dougside's Horrible Book Of Horrors. Both book are making their debut at FantaCon 2013 on September 14th and 15th in Albany, NY. Tales From the Dougside was first published in the pages of Generation Magazine on the University Of Buffalo campus in February 1988 and later moved to Nightlife Magazine in 1992 where it enjoyed a 6 1/2 year run. Between 1995 and 1997 4 book collections of the strips were produced and sold in local Buffalo comic shops and conventions. In 2001, the books were chosen to be part of an exhibit on underground publishing in Buffalo by the curator of the prestigious Poetry And Rare Books Collection at the University Of Buffalo. Antisocial Lawnmower is the 6th book published by Douglas Arthur and marks the first collection published since 1997. (A fifth book, Tales From the Dougside's Horrible Book Of Horrors, is being published concurrently.) It features every single Tales From the Dougside comic strip from the last 25 years, plus a host of extras, original sketches, related materials, and memoirs of a struggling cartoonist, as well as new material created just for the book! Featured inside is also a special comic strip story created for musician Robert Fripp, published in print for the very first time! The previously unpublished cover painting pops with a dynamism that heralds the delights inside. Come see why Robert Fripp calls it "A Hoot!", why Cerebus creator Dave Sim once clamored for "More Dougside!", and why Mansplat Magazine overlord (and Guitar World editor) Jeff Gilbert once called Tales From the Dougside, "disturbed genius", and Doug "terrifically bent". Mr. Gilbert also proclaimed, "Cool ink work, loads of belly laughs, and pretzel logic."
