Consequences of Maternal Morbidities Among Women In Post-partum Period

Maternal morbidity adversely affects families, communities, and societies. The consequences of maternal morbidities are prevalent in developing countries such as anemia, infertility, fistula, genital and uterine prolapse. The objective of this study was to identify the consequences of maternal morbidity among women within a year post-partum period. Descriptive Cross-Sectional study design was used to identify the consequences of maternal morbidity among women within a year post-partum period was carried out in OPD of Patan hospital, Lagankhel, Lalitpur, Nepal. This study concludes that the majority of women who suffer from maternal morbidity such as hemorrhage, eclampsia/pre-eclampsia, prolonge labor, sepsis, faced different problems after delivery such as urine incontinence, hypertension, hemorrhage, obstructive fistula, maternal malnutrition, and others. The findings might help as a reference to conduct a similar study in the future. So that, concerned authority could organize different awareness and health education program for mothers who suffers from maternal morbidities to prevent its consequences.
