Just Love Your Son

Between October 1980 and May 1981, five previously healthy young men in Los Angeles, California, between the ages of 29 to 36 years of age, were treated for an unusual form of pneumonia: Pneumocystis carinii confirmed by biopsies. These were the first cases where doctors recognized there was a severe immunosuppression outbreak in the United States among homosexual men. During this same time Doug's family found out he was gay.

This book is about the struggle of accepting homosexuality in gay children. The Nelson's broke new ground in dealing with and being open about the topic of homosexuality happening in their family. This is a story for everyone, whether they have homosexuality in their family or not. All can receive knowledge, understanding, and compassion for our fellow human family members in the LGBTQ+ community through reading the Nelson family's story as told by Jeanine Nelson, the mother of a homosexual son.
