Ok, you have just hit 30, or even 40 or 50, what's next? Do you simply accept that aging and becoming infirm is inevitable or do you get up off your backside and do something about it?
For me, growing old and infirm has never been an option. I watched my grandparents; uncles & aunts and parents all suffer from declining health and loss of mobility due to inactivity.
As an adult, reaching 30 and 40 years of age, I was shocked to discover that most of my former school mates had turned into old men and women. Not for me! I made the decision to stay active, healthy, fit and strong for as long as I possibly could and so the essence of this book was born.
At the time of writing, I am in my 59th year and, save for the occasional allergy triggered head or chest cold, I have not needed the services of a medical practitioner for well over 10 years. The reasons this is possible, are many and varied.
I will concede that genetics have played a strong role in my continued good health and well-being; however, genetics will only take you so far. At the end of the day, we must take full advantage of that genetic cocktail and create the best physical, mental and emotional outcome we can.
For me, the secret ingredient has been a lifelong love affair with sports and exercise. Coupled with this has been an unwavering desire to learn as much as I possibly could about the human body, exercise science and nutrition. Together, all these pieces of the puzzle have provided me with a quality of life that many of my contemporaries can only wish for.
Contained in this book you will find information about the structure of the human body, the science of human movement, exercise planning, specific exercises to target major muscle groups and, nutrition.
Enjoy the journey back to real health.
