When Aaron Zook showed up at her family's doorstep, hat and heart in his hands, Abigail had thought for sure he would ask to court her. Instead, he asks to court her sister, Trina. Abigail is devastated, but happy for her sister. After the summer, however, it is too hard to see them together. So she decides to live with her Uncle Wayne and his family in Lancaster, the next community over.

Caleb Graber is too busy for a wife. Helping with the carpentry business and the family farm keeps him occupied enough, and he is content with that. However, when Abigail Fisher, his boss's niece, moves to the community, he is forced to rethink his ideas of marriage and love. But she is quiet and reserved, and the busy season for Caleb begins to pick up its pace-leaving him without the time for romance.

But the holidays hold their own magic, and sometimes it just takes time to find it.
