Hindustan Mein Musalmanon Ki Muashi Soorat-e-Haal
Employment provides both the individual and the household with a source of income, which can be used to purchase goods and services that satisfy basic needs and to invest in human capital development. Such activity fosters a sense of self-reliance and respect for the individual within the social structure. It serves to diminish the prevalence of poverty and inequality. An increase in earnings through employment encourages individuals to invest in major government projects, which ultimately enhances the nation's overall productivity. Furthermore, it contributes to social security and stability within the country. India's Constitution provides its citizens with social, economic, and political rights, including an obligation to provide justice, equality of status, and opportunity.
Despite the constitutional safeguards enshrined in Articles 16, 38, 41, 42, and 43, Muslims remain under-represented in all sectors of economic activity, even after 70 years of independence. Those employed in the unorganized sector of the economy rarely enjoy any form of protection. They are mostly engaged in self-owned household economic industries and traditional occupations like sericulture and silk production, handloom, leather industry, etc. These industries are facing severe challenges due to economic liberalization and globalization. Muslims are lagging far behind in upgrading technology and installing modern machinery, which is causing them to lose prestige even in traditional fields.
